Has anyone else been noticing the absence of all those electro parties that were once around?
What, do you guys only play around in summer?
I understand that Get Nasty have a "season" which is over now. But what about Dark Side of the Boom and Daydream Nation? I heard something about a little ego getting in the way of Daydream Nation wanting to have their parties at the Assembly again because Get Nasty got to support the Bloody Beetroots when they came down... which was funny I guess because those Daydream guys claimed to hate Bloody Beetroots anyway. Testosterone huh? That shit will eat you.
But what about Dark Side of the Boom? It's not like any body "cool" or "hip" ever went to those parties because they were so scared of being mugged walking down to the Rhino Room. I actually never saw more than 100 people at a DSotB party.
Listen guys, winter is coming, it's been pissing with rain all weekend, the bands in Cape Town at the moment are shocking and to put it nicely, are becoming rather stale. So bring back the fucking beat, nobody else is doing it. Nobody in this city, except for the Skene's are doing anything and those guys literally play everywhere. I mean, KINK? Is that what it has come to? You can't find a party so you land up at a boutique bar that's full of the larny near middle-aged crew?...but that's almost your crowd isn't it? Not just the Skene brothers, but the Daydream Nation and Dark Side of the Boom guys too. You're all almost 30. So is this it? Is this the retiring age for an electro DJ?
